Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has hit at some of his staff members over misconduct, arguing that he will not tolerate such behaviors anymore.
On Tuesday, Oparanya questioned the cleanliness of some staff members, arguing that many of them were fond of reusing cloths without washing them.
According to him, he caught one of staff drunk and the man went on to ask for money (handouts) from him. He said such behaviors will be dealt with in the near future.
“I was shocked when I visited one region and found one of my staff drunk and in a pathetic state. The man was tipsy while on duty and even dared to ask me ‘boss umebeba kakitu unisaidie’,” said the governor adding that he will not tolerate it anymore.
Also, Oparanya faulted some of his ministers for alleged poor relationship with junior workers, adding that the habit would derail development.
“In other countries, a minister would be compelled to resign for failing to guide their juniors.”
He told member of the executive not to engage into 2022 succession politics and focus on serving the people.
"Keep off from 2022 politics. It is not your duty to discuss about 2022. It will come and go just like other years. Do what I appointed you to do.”
Oparanya is keen to have a third tier government proposal endorsed, a move that could give him a lifeline after 2022 polls when he's set to retire.
