Nyanza academic giants; Maseno, Maranda and Kisii High schools have emerged the best in the region after recording exemplary performance in the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

On Wednesday celebrations engulfed Maseno National School after the school was ranked seven nationwide, powering its way back to the hall of fame. Maseno recorded 23 straight As, a rare feat after missing in action in previous years. 

In an exclusive interview on Wednesday with Hivisasa Maseno National School Deputy Principal Peter Nyawach said the number of As the school has achieved in this year’s KCSE has doubled that of 2018.

“We are excited with the results released today, this year’s results have doubled the last years. Last year we had a total of 10 A plains but this we have gotten 23 straight As,” said Maseno Deputy Principal Peter Nyawach. 

Nyawach attributed the good performance to commitment, hard work and focus. He added that the school was expecting more than what they got, saying their prayers were to top nationally. 

Anthony Ochieng who topped in the school said he wants to be a doctor in the future having been recorded great performance during his stay in primary and secondary school. Before joining Maseno School the 17-year-old scored 425 marks in Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) four years ago. 

Also, in Chulaimbo Secondary School in Kisumu excitements and celebrations were the order of the day after the school recorded good performance in this year’s KCSE. The school principal Dancun Owiye noted that his top student got A plain of 80 points, adding that they have managed to record four A minuses, attributing quality performance to hard work.

“We are excited to have these results, so far we have four A minuses, nine B pluses and assorted grades with B plain up to lower grades,” said Dancun Owiye, Principal Chulaimbo Boys.
