Detectives have since arrested one Chris Mwai Ngweti over allegations of approaching Akasha's wife Najma Juma Hassan for purporting to be in a position to help him evade jail.

Purporting to be an official from the Statehouse, Ngweti reportedly swindled Najuma of Sh5.1 million for the purpose, a crime allegedly done with the help of other suspects still at large.

The crime was reportedly done between October 9, 2018 and November 15, 2018, where the police believe they engaged in felony and conspiracy to obtain money by false pretence.

The accused was on Thursday arraigned before the Shanzu Law Courts, where the said pastor denied the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate David Odhiambo.

The latter was allegedly to link Mrs Juma to one Mr Stephen Nzioka, who was to link her to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Najma told the police that Mr Nzioka later demanded Sh500,000 which was allegedly to be handed to Statehouse Comptroller Kinuthia Mbugua.

This was allegedly to facilitate the meeting with Uhuru and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma, who was to facilitate the return of Baktash and his younger brother Ibrahim.

The woman told the police that after paying millions to the said fraudsters, the alleged fraudsters disappeared, only to appear once in a while to assure her that all was well.

She also told the police that she never met either of the said top state officials, leading to her believing that she had been conned.

With the case set to be mentioned on November 14.Mr Ngweti was released in a Sh1 million cash bail or Sh2 million bond.
