Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has claimed that the objective of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) is to advocate for constitutional changes in a bid to make Raila Odinga prime minister.
The legislator who was speaking at a function in Central Kenya alleged that besides the prime minister's post, the BBI team was fighting to introduce other additional posts for election losers.
"When Raila Odinga and a few others stay out in the political cold for a short while, they want the whole country to bear the responsibility of changing the Constitution to make Raila Odinga Kenya's prime minister (Lakini Raila Odinga na watu wengine wachache wakikaa nje kidogo, wakisikia uko nje kuna baridi, wanataka Kenya nzima ifanye jukumu la kubadilisha katiba eti ndio Raila Odinga afanywe kuwa prime minister wa Kenya)," said Nyoro.
Nyoro doubted whether Kenyans would be convinced to support such an initiative, which he opined was promoting the selfish interests of a few politicians.
The vocal legislator noted that only a referendum which aims at reducing the cost of living and promoting education, amongst other proposals beneficial to Kenyans should be conducted.
"If the constitution is to be amended, then it should aim at reducing the cost of flour and ensuring that students in universities don't pay school fees (Kama kuna kubadilisha katiba, ni kubadilisha ili bei ya unga iende chini na watato wako university wasilipe school fees)," he argued.
The MP termed the BBI proposal the 'Blue Band Badilisha Initiative', claiming that residents from Kiharu, Gatanga and the entire Central region would reject it.
