Among the high profile individuals who have reacted to the development are ODM leader Raila Odinga's son, Raila Junior and renowned lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi.

Both reacted in the form of tweets with the son of the former prime minister expressing a sympathetic view.

In his tweet, Raila Junior wished Unai all the best.

"To be honest @UnaiEmery_  is a decent person, it just never worked out for him at @Arsenal, I wish him well in his endeavours, now to rebuild with Freddie as stand in. #newbeginnings #onwards," Raila Junior said.

Ahmednasir Abdullahi was more brutal, saying that Umai Emery's departure was good riddance.

"Our prayers have been answered Arsenal sack Unai Emery with Ljungberg taking over as caretaker  – live!" Ahmednasir wrote on Friday after the news of Unai's sacking came through.

The London club announced in a statement on its website that the decision to show the coach the door was taken after a string of poor performances.

It came just hours after Arsenal lost a Europa League match to a German club Eintracht Frankfurtb on Thursday night.

Unai took over from legendary tactician Arsene Wenger, hoping to turn around Arsenal's fortunes and bring the club back to its winning ways.

Efforts to recreate Arsenal's past glories came up short for Emery.
