Liverpool star Mohamed Salah on Tuesday spent a night in Nairobi on his way to undisclosed location days after his Egyptian football team was bangled out of AFCON.
Salah, who was a joint top scorer in English Premier League, is currently on a vacation and is expected to link with the European champions soon in a preseason tour in the United States.
In a low profile tour, PR specialist Ahmed Mohamed leaked a photo of Mr Salah, who is highly respected in Egypt, on his Twitter handle.
"The legend, Mo Salah is in town. Karibu Nairobi @MoSalah. Enjoy your stay SIR," said Mr Mohamed without giving further details about the trip to Nairobi by the star.
A local publication claimed that Salah slept at Hilton Garden Inn along Mombasa Road before sneaking out early Wednesday morning.
"His team came here and talked to one of our bosses. They didn't want any information out. However, we enjoyed his stay," said a waiter at the hotel.
A night at Hilton Garden Inn costs anywhere from Sh14,000 for a standard room to Sh30,000 for a king one bedroom suite.
Salah won Champions League with Liverpool last season and is the reigning African best footballer. Early this month, his national side Egypt was knocked out in AFCON competition which was eventually won by Algeria.
Salah is a teammate to Divoc Origi, a Belgian international whose father Mike Okoth, once played for Kenya and Kenya Breweries now Tusker before moving to Brussels.
