The widow, Evelyn Kwamboka claimed that her daughter whose name could not be revealed because of the sensitivity of the matter was impregnated by a man identified as Joshua Okindo.

According to Kwamboka, the man leased the family land to cultivate only to end up impregnating her eldest daughter who dropped out of school in class 8 this year.

"My daughter fell ill and I took her to a local private clinic only to realize that she was 7-months-old pregnant. After questioning her she revealed that Okindo has been sleeping with her inside the sugarcane plantation," said Kwamboka.

The widow now says the government should intervene to ensure her daughter gets justice.

Area chief Douglas Onchari confirmed the incident saying the suspect was arrested on Friday and taken to Nyanturago police station.

The chief, however, said the suspect was later released under unclear circumstances.

"I am yet to understand why police released the suspect because I saw the suspect walking free on Saturday in the village after I arrested and surrendered him to police on Friday for court processing. I will follow up the matter until the suspect faces the law," assured Onchari.

The administrator said cases of young girls being impregnated by men in the area are high and expressed the need for culprits like Okindo to face the law so as to serve as an example.
