A renowned radio presenter Mwalimu Rachel has been charged in a court of law with robbery with violence.
According to the charge sheet, quoted by K24 Digital, the NRG radio presenter robbed a man identified as Martin Mbugua two silver chains said to be worth 65,000 shillings.
Mwalimu Rachel is said to have used violence in the robbery.
“It is alleged that on the 17th of January this year, while at Area 87 in Kinoo, Kikuyu Sub-County, you [Mwalimu Rachel] and four others not before court, robbed one Martin Mbugua Njeri of his two silver chains valued at Ksh65, 000, a wrist watch valued at Ksh35, 000, and Ksh3, 500 in cash. You applied violence while robbing Martin of his property,” the prosecutor read the charges to the presenter, as quoted by K24 Digital.
The Radio presenter pleaded not guilty to the weighty charges and was released on a bail of Sh10,000.
Martin Mbugua filed a complaint at the Kinoo police station leading to the arrest of the presenter.
Mwalimu Rachel allegedly committed the crime in the company of four men, one of whom is said to have been her boyfriend.
The presenter, according to the K24 report, was angry that Mbugua had convinced members of the Sailors gang, a music band, to stay away from her.
