Deputy President Dr William Ruto sought Saturday to assure governors they will reach an agreement as he waded into the allocation of revenue debate.
Speaking in Mumbuni in Machakos County, the DP said that the central government was keen on resolving the issues that the county bosses want addressed.
"The issues we have around the sharing of revenue and the allocation of revenue bill, those issues will be resolved. (Ile mambo ambayo tuko nayo ya ugavi was rasilimali, ya sharable revenue na allocation of revenue Bill, hio mambo tutasuluhisha.)," the deputy president assured.
Ruto said that the government was committed to the success of devolution in the country, calling on leaders to engage in dialogue as a way of resolving issues.
His remarks come amid a tug of war between the county governments and the national government over how to share revenue.
Governors from the 47 counties want the allocation set aside for counties to be increased, saying that the funds that they get from the national government are not proportional to their responsibilities.
A meeting between Ruto and the chairman of the Council of Governors Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya failed to reach an agreement.
The governors filed a case in the courts seeking their intervention in the matter.
