Some established musicians make a killing from their live performances but most artists do not reveal what they take home. However, Kenyan artists Bahati and Akothee, as well as Tanzanian star Diamond Platinumz, have made public what they demand per performance.
According to K24, Bahati charges a minimum of Ksh700, 000 for an 18-25 minutes performance. Speaking to Betty Kyallo on K24 Television on Friday, August 30, the Kenyan gospel artist said that the brand he has built entitles him to such huge pays for a relatively less work done.
“If one wants to hire me, he or she should be armed with Ksh700, 000 for an 18 to 25 minutes performance,” Bahati told the host on Up-Close with Betty.
The revelation means Bahati pockets Ksh648 per second whenever he performs for 18 minutes. This translates to Ksh38, 889 per minute for every minute he is on stage meaning the 'Mama' hitmaker has established himself as one of the best artists in East Africa to demand such an amount.
The Eastland’s Most Beloved (EMB) Records boss joins Diamond in revealing what they earn. In December 2018, Diamond stated that he charges at least Ksh7 million per performance. On her part, Akothee revealed to K24 Digital that one must part with Ksh1.5 million for her to perform in a single show.
