Political analyst Dennis Anyonka has claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta and former ODM leader Raila Odinga could be fooling Kenyans regarding the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
The two, who founded the initiative and its task force, have promised to support the outcome of the BBI report once it's released.
This is after it the 14-member task force was dispatched to seek views and opinions from Kenyans on the possible solutions to national problems, after which is retreated to compile the findings.
Anyonka now says that the two must be aware of the proposals that will be made by the task force adding that the process of collecting views from Kenyans was just to fool them.
Speaking on Tuesday, he also wondered how the two can promise to support something they don't even know about, reaching the conclusion that they must have directed the task force on what to propose at the end of the exercise.
"Both Uhuru and Raila are saying that the BBI is coming and they will support it so what are they supporting? It seems they directed the team on what to say and Kenyans' opinion don't count (Both Uhuru na Raila wamesema BBI itakuja na wataisupport, so wanasupport nini? Nikama waliagiza ile team iseme hivi na hivi, maoni ya wakenya haijalishi)," he said on Radio Maisha, Tuesday morning.
He observed that otherwise, Uhuru and Raila would not have been so excited about the BBI issue, and would actually be leading in urging Kenyans to await the report before commenting on it.
"We should be talking about a report that is already here. In my opinion, the two alrwady had the ideas with them (Tungekuwa tunaongelea ripoti iliyo hapa. Kwa maoni yangu, hii ripoti tayari ilikuwa kwa akili ya hawa wawili)," he added.
Last week, there emerged claims that the report includes major constitutional amendments, which the task force has dismissed.
Raila and his team have since predicted a referendum after the outcome of the BBI findings, resulting in opposition from forces allied to Deputy President William Ruto.
To them, the BBI was a plot to expand the constitution to accommodate election losers.
