Transparency International Executive Director, Samuel Kimeu, has resigned.
For starters, Transparency International Kenya (TI-Kenya) is a non-for-profit organization founded in 1999 in Kenya with the aim of developing a transparent and corruption free society through good governance and social justice.
The Board of Directors of TI-Kenya on Thursday through a press release confirmed the resignation of Mr. Samuel Kimeu.
According to the signed letter sent to the media, Mr. Kimeu has resigned to take over another appointment.
"The Board of Directors of Transparency International-Kenya has accepted the resignation of the Executive Director, Samuel Kimeu with effect from January 202. Mr. Kimeu is proceeding to another appointment following engagement with TI-Kenya spanning nine and half years," read a statement in part.
Mr. Kimeu previously served as the Governance Specialist at the Embassy of Finland in Nairobi and the Executive Director of the Kenyan Section of the International Commission of Jurists.
He was also a lecturer at Kenyatta University School of Law and an advocate of the High Court of Kenya. He holds Master of Laws degree in International Human Rights Law from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, USA, after first law degree from the University of Nairobi.
Mr. Kimeu joined Transparency International Board of Directors since October 2017. The board has then appointed Ms Sheila Masinde to serve as the acting Executive Director for the time being.
Ms Masinde has been working at TI-Kenya since 2015 as capacity Programmes Manager.
