Kapondo Kasipul MP Maxwel Oliech has alleged that deputy president William Ruto would not resign because he almost entirely depends on government for everything.

In a post in his official Facebook page, Oliech claimed that those who were asserting that the deputy president could contemplate resigning were making fools of themselves because it could not happen.

The former prime minister Raila Odinga's close ally observed that the DP could be reduced to an ordinary citizen if all the powers and privileges he enjoys were to be relinquished.

"By the wy...I have seen some jokes that William Ruto can consider resigning.... That is a bad joke because Ruto without state resources and state position, he will be a very common person," read part of the post.

Further, the lawmaker noted that it would be easier to prosecute and convict Ruto over any criminal offence, just like an ordinary Kenyan if he was to leave government.

Oliech observed that the deputy president knew that it would be impossible for him to call it quits even if the president Uhuru Kenyatta was to discredit him publicly.

There have been calls for the resignation of deputy president William Ruto from office on accusations of indirectly sabotaging President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Handshake MPs in a past press conference urged Ruto to step down from office for undermining his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta, sentiments which were also echoed by Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua at a recent function.
