Renowned lawyer and socio-political commentator Donald Kipkorir now wants the head of the Catholic church Pope Francis to dissolve the Catholic Synod in Kenya.
In a tweet on Monday morning, Mr Kipkorir contended that the church was no longer in the business of spreading the gospel of Christ but in the business of entertaining politicians.
He said that 2022 presidential politics and the worship of money had taken centrestage in the church instead of the word of God.
"His Holiness Pope Francis,Vatican City, 00120, Vatican City Your Holiness, as you did in Chile & other Dioceses, kindly dissolve the Catholic Synod in Kenya. The Church no longer spreads the Gospel of Christ but has installed 2022 Politics in our altar & worships MONEY," the tweet read.
His tweet comes just a day after Kieleweke and Tangatanga politicians from Mount Kenya region clashed at a church in Kiharu constituency, Muranga county.
Politicians engaging in politics and trading strong words in church services has seen a section of Kenyans call for them to be banned from addressing congregants.
Kenyan churches are known to be generous to politicians who are usually given time to speak whenever they show up.
This has seen scores being concerned that the church is slowly losing its stature as a place of worship.
