Speaking on Thursday morning, Owalo claimed that among the land grabbers are top politicians, who have been scouting around the constituency, identifying idle pieces of land.

He claimed that some are even driving around with wire mesh and fencing materials, which they use to cordon off target properties before proceeding to acquire them.

"Some popular people cannot see land with their eyes, they are driving around with wiremesh and when they spot a piece of land they grab it (Watu fulani wakubwa hapa nchini hawaoni shamba na macho, sasa wanatembea na seng'enge kwa magari. Wakiona ardhi wananyakua)," he said.

Owalo was speaking in an interview on KBC Radio, where he promised to address such if elected Kibra Member of Parliament in the November 7 race.

He also promised to seek more finances which he will use in developing the constituency once elected, noting that the national government constituency fund alone is not enough.

He vowed  to increase water connection and sewerage coverage in Kibra, saying that he is in talks with Netherlands firm SNV to help with the project once he takes over.

"I have friends, I have already spoken with SNV Netherlands about the issue of water and they will look into it (Mimi niko na marafiki, tayari nimeongea na SNV Netherlands kuhusu mambo ya maji na wataiagalia)," he added.

Owalo, a former member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), will face off with ODM's Imran Okoth, Jubilee Party's McDonald Mariga and over 20 other candidates.
