National government together with the County government of Laikipia has set plans moving to give a new look to two towns situated at Laikipia West County. The move will enable both Sipili and Kinamba towns to acquire a new and modern look.
The national government has been tasked with tarmacking of the roads, while the county government will oversee urban planning, streetlights installation in addition to sufficient water supply. The project is set to cost Sh200 million to complete.
Speaking during an inspection tour in both towns, the county governor Nderitu Muriithi pointed out how there was the need for better and organized human-friendly urban centres.
"We want to make the two towns business hubs in the region. That is why we have partnered with the national government to upgrade them. The project will be completed in the next three months," noted governor Muriithi.
The county boss revealed how his administration had allocated money for streetlights' installation plus water supply beginning next month, adding how the upgrading of the towns would trigger business growth hence employment creations.
According to Muriithi, a theatre would also be established at Ndindika hospital in Kinamba, in addition to more doctors to boost the health sector.
Deputy County Commissioner for Laikipia sub-county Benedict Munywoki called upon residents to maximize the project, in helping to boost their businesses.
Munywoki also assured residents of security over banditry attacks, promising that security officers were highly alert.
