Kenyans on social media have expressed mixed reactions after popular gospel artist Kamlesh Kagaba was allegedly arrested by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in connection with the robbery of Sh72 million from G4S.
The Thursday heist saw three thugs disguised as police officers assigned to escort G4S officials make away with 13 sacks of money.
Kamlesh was allegedly arrested at his garage.
According to a tweet from the DCI, one of the motor vehicles used in the heist was recovered from the garage in Kikuyu.
"THREE MORE Suspects connected with Yesterday’s ATM Heist at Nairobi West have been arrested by #SCPU Detectives & Two Motor vehicles recovered. One of the motor vehicle-KCE 920E Voxy-was recovered at a garage in Kikuyu while being repainted from white to black," the tweet from DCI read.
Taking to Twitter under the #FreeKamlesh, the netizens expressed various concerns over the arrest.
Led by renown Kenyan gospel musicians Juliani and Holy Dave, the netizens called for transparency in the case against Kamesh.
Juliani particularly demanded to know the place where the musician was being held, whether he was represented or not and if proper procedure was followed in the arrest.
A section of the netizens supported the investigations while expressing confidence that the gospel musician was innocent.
They, however, called for fairness to be upheld in the investigations.
