Embakasi East lawmaker Babu Owino has once again poked holes into McDonald Mariga's bid for the Kibra parliamentary seat in the forthcoming by-elections.
Mariga, who is the Jubilee Party in the race will be battling it out with among others, Imran Okoth of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, and Amani National Congress (ANC) party candidate Eliud Owalo.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Owino poured cold water on Mariga's candidature, terming him unqualified for the seat, judging by his academic credentials.
He claimed that the footballer cannot deliver, and should instead vie for the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) chairmanship.
"We will never replace an academician Hon Ken Okoth with an academic dwarf, an academic orphan, an academic demagogue and an academic lily wart. Instead of building schools he will build castles on the air. Mariga for FKF chairman. Ngeli ya dham dham dham," he wrote.
Mariga's bid has also been opposed by a section of fellow Jubilee members, some of whom among them Nominated MP Maina Kamanda and Youth and Gender Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary Rachel Shebesh have vowed to campaign for Imran.
Also in the race to fill the vacancy left by the late Ken Okoth is Khamisi Butichi of the Ford Kenya Party.
