Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has weighed in on Kenyan football star McDonald Mariga's decision to venture into politics.
Mariga was earlier in the week handed the Jubilee party ticket to vie for the vacant Kibra parliamentary seat.
But speaking on Wednesday, Olekina advised he former Harambee Stars midfielder to stick to soccer, noting that he might not survive in the murky waters of politics.
"Mariga should stick to what he does; people love him for playing soccer and politics is a dirty game," he said during an interview on Citizen TV's Daybreak show on Wednesday morning.
On his part, former Cherangany MP Kipruto Kirwa said the by-election will be more of a fight between Deputy President William Ruto, who has been accused of sponsoring Mariga, and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Raila has enjoyed total support from the constituency for many years, with his party too declaring interest in retaining the seat left vacant after the death of Ken Okoth.
"Parties in Africa are yet to mature into serious political entities; it is still pegged on personality. It is almost evident that this game is going to be between Raila and Ruto and therefore this is going to be one of the test grounds," he said.
However, this comes as a submission from the Amani National Congress (ANC) deputy party leader whose party has also presented Eliud Owalo for the race.
Others in the race include; Imran Okoth; brother to the late Ken Okoth, reggae deejay Christone Odhiambo allias Kriss Darlin among others.
