The CJ started off with visiting the ongoing construction of a new court complex at the Mombasa Law Courts where he assessed its progress.

The new complex is expected to reduce congestion of cases at the Mombasa Law Courts being experienced at the moment once it is launched.

Mombasa Law Courts are one of the courts in the Coast region that handles many cases on daily basis, ranging from terrorism, drugs, criminal gangs, among many other cases, making it congested with cases.

"Just visited the construction site of the new court complex at the Mombasa Law Courts to assess progress. The Court will ease congestion and provide more space for court rooms and other services at the station," CJ Maraga tweeted.

The new court complex, Justice Tower, is 4-storey building which is half completed and is expected to be put in use in the near future.

It was launched in May 2018 and was to take at most 18 months to be competed

The CJ later had a verbal word with the residents including the remandees during the same visit.

"Interacting with wananchi and remandees at the Mombasa Law Courts during my visit to the station," read another tweet from Maraga.
