A middle-aged woman from Oruba Village in Suna East sub-county is calling on well-wishers to help her get her daughter’s body from Chiromo mortuary for burial.
Julia Adhiambo the woman, says the body of her teenage girl Loice Awino has stayed at the Chiromo Mortuary In Nairobi for two weeks as she was unable to foot the bills at the facility where her daughter had been admitted.
According to Julia, her daughter was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and was treated at local facilities within the county and later referred to the Texas Cancer Center within Nairobi for specialized treatment in February 2019.
Unfortunately, Loice passed on while undergoing treatment at the facility after the bill had accrued to Shs 175,000, an amount Julia says she cannot afford.
According to Julia, the management of the health facility declined to give her the body for burial but instead took it to Chiromo mortuary where she was instructed to foot all medical bills before she could be allowed to take the body.
"They told me to clear all the bills (mortuary and hospital) before I could take my kid. I don't know where to start from as the amount is too huge yet I don't have money," she said.
Despite the ongoing burial preparations at home, Julia doesn’t know when she will be handed the body for the same and is now appealing to well-wishers to support her to enable her to bring back her daughter for burial.
Her phone number is 0704781269.
