A man believed to be Orange Democratic Movement party Migori chairman Philip Makabongo on Friday breached protocol when his ODM boss Raila Odinga landed.
Mr Odinga had earlier attended funeral to former Nyaribari Masaba MP Dr Hezron Manduku, where he was received by Governors James Ongwae and John Nyagarama.
But upon arrival in Migori, Mr Makabongo look-alike was seen rushing to receive Mr Odinga, despite the fact that Governor Okoth Obado was around.
A member presumably of Obado's communication team is then seen trying to block Mr Makabongo from greeting Raila first as Mr Obado approached.
Mr Obado had been at loggerheads with Odinga but the two have since reconciled. Obado failed to support Ochillo Ayacko of ODM during Senatorial by-election.
During his trip at Migori, Odinga urged Obado to push for rejection of Punguza Mizigo initiative, a popular initiative being spearheaded by Ekuru Aukot.
“These issue of Punguza Mizigo, Punguza Punda we don’t know, we want Migori County Assembly to reject the bill once it is brought in the assembly for debate,” Said Raila.
Raila told Migori Governor Obado that the county should take a queue from Siaya county assembly that rejected the Ekuru Aukot-led bill.
“We have some counties which are still reluctant on the matter, we want our people to lead so that judgment can be made that we don’t know Punguza Mizigo and what we know is BBI,” said Raila.
Protocol wise, Raila is usually received by Governors or ministers when attending function related to government. County Commissioners have also been receiving him.
