Speaking on Saturday, the ex-lawmaker claimed that he has since run broke, to an extent that he currently depends on his wife for survival.

Speaking on Radio Jambo, he termed himself a victim of the bad financial situation in the country and is among the many suffering Kenyans on the ground.

"It's my wife feeding me and I am grateful because she loves me. I'm broke and that's the situation on the ground (Mimi bibi ndiye ananilisha, na nashukuru kwa sababu ananipenda. Nimesota na hii ndiyo hali ya mambo kwa ground)," he said.

He claimed that he was also invited to attend the Mt Kenya politicians caucus meeting in Nyeri County on Friday, but could not make it out of the inability to cater for his transportation.

"I was invited to Sagana but could not raise the bus fare (Huko Sagana nilialikwa lakini nikakosa bus fare)," he claimed.

The meeting was hosted by President Uhuru Kenyatta at the Sagana Statelodge.

Mutura who served between 2013 and 2017 on The National Alliance (TNA) ticket made the remarks in the presence of his successor and incumbent Makadara MP George Aladwa.
