Nyamira County Commissioner Amos Mariba has warned that stern actions will be taken against individuals found involving themselves in power frauds,
Speaking on Friday in the county, Mariba said anyone found pretending to be working with Kenya Power will not be spared.
"Power fraudsters should know that their days are numbered. We can't allow a few individuals to con residents by false pretence. I urge residents to be on high alert and report anyone they suspect is pretending to be working with Kenya Power," he said.
This comes at a time that Nyamira locals have complained over increased cases of individuals who masquerade as Kenya Power officials in the county.
The county security boss also said that illegal power connections will not be tolerated.
He noted that unnecessary deaths caused by the illegal connection of power can be avoided and advised locals to engage qualified personal to connect power for them.
"It is a crime for anyone to connect power without involving Kenya Power officials. Anyone found will be arrested to face prosecution in a court of law since we do not want to see people dying because of illegal power connections which can be avoided," said Mariba.
He asked the Kenya power officials to move around the county and ensure there is no illegal power connection.
