A 68-year-old man died on the spot after he was hit by a saloon car near Mathauta bridge a few kilometres from Matuu town along Thika-Garissa road.

This accident was confirmed by Yatta OCPD Edward Changach who said that the accident happened on Monday night when the man was trying to cross the road. 

He said the saloon car was headed to Matuu town from Mwingi before the accident. 

The vehicle involved in the accident is detained at Matuu police station as police launch investigations into the matter. 

He warned drivers to be vigilant during this rainy season as they may incur visibility problems thus causing accidents. 

The body of the deceased was taken to Matuu median hospital mortuary.
