Hundreds of taxpayers started queuing as early as 6am to beat the deadline.

"I filed my returns from the cyber in last week, I actually paid the cyber attendant Sh500 to have the work done for me, which he did and I received receipt from KRA, unfortunately on Wednesday this week I received a heartbreaking sms from KRA which said 'dear customer, we have noticed your account has been inactive, it is long since you logged in, please log in and file your returns' which made me to cancel my everything to come here," said Hassan Omar as he waited on the queue.

Similar cases were witnessed at Huduma Centre Mombasa.

"I tried to file my returns on my mobile phone but the KRA system was so poor, nothing was working in my favor, so I decided to come here to meet the experts themselves," said Jane.
