Speaking on Radio Jambo Tuesday evening, the senator bashed the lawyers for intervening for graft suspects, the latest one being Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu.

Mwilu who was arrested on Tuesday over among others tax evasion is being represented by a team of lawyers led by Siaya Senator James Orengo and his Nyamira counterpart Okong’o Omogeni.

According to Sakaja, the same demonstrates that the party is against the ongoing war on graft, urging it to demonstrate its goodwill by shunning graft suspects.

‘’Ni vibaya watu wa ODM kutetea washukiwa wa ufisadi. Ikiwa wanasema kweli ya kwamba hawataki ufisadi mbona mawakili wa chama hicho wanatetea wafisadi? (how come their lawyers are protecting graft suspects yet the party has declared support for the anti-corruption push?),’’ he wondered.

He accused the party of bias, claiming that the recent unfolding points at a block allied towards one side, expressing his disappointment with the opposition leader Raila Odinga-led party.

‘’Today I am disappointed and disgusted with the ODM people. Ni kama inakuwa tu ufisadi kama ni watu wa Jubilee wanahusika lakini kama ni rafiki yao wanamtetea (it seems it only becomes corruption when it involves a person from the other side),’’ he added.

Other ODM members representing Mwilu include Homabay Town MP Peter Kaluma and  Mbita parliamentarian Millicent Odhiambo.

Others are Julie Soweto, Nelson Havi and Harun Ndubi.
