Bobasi Member of Parliament Innocent Obiri Momanyi, Kisumu County Assembly Speaker Onyango Oloo and former Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) Managing Director Peter Anguko Abuok have been released on bail.
The trio pleaded not guilty after they were arrested over Ksh.4.1 billion graft saga in connection with construction of the Lake basin mall.
The accused appeared before the Nairobi anti-corruption court following their arrests, Oloo was granted a cash bail of Sh6 million while Abuok and Momanyi walked out of the police cell after they were awarded with Sh10 million cash bail.
The three landed in hot soup after they reportedly started a project without proper planning on the same. The prosecution also said that the trio failed to comply with the laws of procurements.
They were also charged with abuse of power over the project in question. Oloo reportedly conspired with Abuok to alter the details of a title deed belonging to LBDA for Sh1.2 billion in a bid to influence the award of the tender in the Lower Kanyakwar Phase 1 project.
The duo went against the laws of procurement after failing to involve the National Treasury Cabinet Secretary in the matter.
The project required the approval from the Treasury before it could proceed to the next stage.
The prosecution has revealed that 65 witnesses have been lined up to testify in the case.
