The second term governor announced the sacking of eight workers as he seeks to streamline service delivery and prevent loss of public resources.

The officers who lost their jobs include Moses Mwendwa Kaloki (procurement officer, Finance ministry), Joshua Kiilu (inspectorate officer and driver0, Stellamarris Mutinda (acting Deputy Sub-county Commander), Margaret Mwikali Mutisya (officer in charge of revenue) and James Katana Changalwa (inspectorate officer).

Others who were fired are Thomas Muindi (public health officer, Mwala), James Makau (village administrator, Mlolongo) and Winfred Mwikali Kitungai (Mlolongo, Deputy ward Administrator).

The governor said that he is not ready to tolerate any county officials who will be involved in graft, adding that he is committed to better service delivery before the completion of his second and final term in power.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement leader went on to ask those who are still in charge of different dockets to ensure speedy implementation of projects in their various dockets as he seeks to leave behind a legacy before 2022.

“I have, on more than one occasion, urged Machakos government employees to serve wananchi in a speedy manner. They should not terrorise or frustrate wananchi or their colleagues so as to be bribed," he said.

Mutua has in the recent past said that he will not sit and watch corrupt officials derail his agenda. He has been on the forefront in advocating for the audit of public officials.
