Renowned lawyer Donald Kipkorir has warned ODM party leader Raila Odinga against allowing allies of Deputy President William Ruto to join Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) sensitisation meetings.
The DP's allies, commonly known as Tanga Tanga, on Tuesday announced they will be attending BBI rallies starting with the one scheduled on Saturday in Mombasa.
However, Kipkorir argued that Tanga Tanga and Raila share no common vision, and cautioned the ODM boss that joining hands with them could be the beginning of the end of his political career.
"To allow them join you will be utter folly. Your respective visions for this country are day and night. To allow them will be the beginning of political Tower of Babel," he said.
In an open letter to Raila posted on his Twitter handle, the flamboyant lawyer claimed the DP and his cronies have been pouring scorn on the handshake between Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta, noting they made a U-turn on BBI after a successful rally in Kakamega County last week.
"Since the handshake, Tanga Tanga have shown open contempt for you and the President. Your big rally in Kakamega was their false epiphany. Roads to redemption can't be sudden," he said.
Kipkorir reminded the former Prime Minister of how the Greeks conquered the city of Troy by deceiving the king with a fake gift, noting Ruto's allies could be using the same trick to plan for his downfall.
"Tanga Tanga change of attitude is a poisoned chalice. Don't take it. Reject it. History is replete with such subterfuge. Don't fall for them. Don't allow them to join you," the lawyer reiterated.
