Most road users prefer tarmacked roads for easy travel and low maintenance to their vehicles and motorbikes. However, things are not smooth for those using Rivatex-Salient road that joins Uasin Ngishu County to Nandi County.

According to the users and residents, the road was tarmacked last year by Kabuito contractors but hasn't been completed. Due to lack of bumps and markings, the road has become a black spot after several accidents were reported in December 2019.

"We lost our father after he was hit by a motorbike at a corner around Ndalat. This was the third time being hit at the same location. I trust that could not have happened if the bumps were erected earlier," Alphonse Korir said during sending-off ceremony of his father.

Three days after Korir's father died, another man died after being knocked down by a car few kilometres from the scene. This forced residents to erect numerous temporary bumps.

However, some of these bumps have been giving drivers a hard time to cross. They, therefore, want the contractor to complete the construction as soon as possible.

"Bumps put in place are killing our vehicles. We go to the garage daily. Kabuito should clear them and complete the road," Simion Kipchumba, a PSV driver lamented.
