Renowned lawyer Donald Kipkorir has come out to defend Uasin Gishu Women Representative Gladys Shollei amid criticism after her photos with a white man surfaced online.
Shollei trended on social media for the better part of Friday as netizens speculated she has found new love, barely two weeks after she divorced her husband Sam Shollei.
With her estranged husband reportedly marrying a week after the divorce, some online users mocked the Women Rep saying she 'unveiled' her Mzungu bae to hit back at Sam.
Kipkorir, however, defended the MP, who she described as a friend and classmate, saying there was nothing wrong with her moving on after her first marriage collapsed.
"I wish my classmate and friend all the bliss in life ... Life is for the living," the flamboyant lawyer Tweeted.
Lawyer and blogger Muthoni Njakwe also waded into the issue, and asked the former Registrar of the Judiciary to ignore critics and continue doing what will make her happy.
"Just logged in to find photos of Gladys Shollei and new Bae trending. .. Mami, if you are happy you are happy. You owe no one an explanation; you don't need to prove it. Your ex-husband moved on, you don't need to prove that you too have moved on," Njakwe said.
In a press conference on Friday night, Shollei linked the leaking of the photos to alleged threats of destruction of her character and image.
She claimed the threats have been coming from a person known to her but vowed not to revenge saying 'I was not raised to be an evil person'.
"Those photographs out there reveal no improper conduct on my part. In terms of using them to destroy me I believe no human being can destroy me unless God wills it and if they are God, which they are not... No amount of smear campaign will deter me from serving Kenyans and the great people of Uasin Gishu County," Shollei said.
