Flu is a contagious condition caused by a particular virus. You can easily get it from your friend or anyone else through kissing, cough, sternutation among others.
According to Dr David Lewis, people who drink 8 glasses of water daily are not likely to be victimized by the flu. On the other hand, those who drink 3 glasses are at a higher risk of falling victim to the condition.
Water keeps the nose lining moist and therefore protects the mucous membrane against the flu virus or bacteria.
'This acts as sticky flypaper to trap things like dust, dirt and bacteria and prevent them from getting to the lungs. If you are dehydrated, the mucous membrane will dry out. When this happens, it is half as effective," says Dr Lewis, a neuropsychologist in an interview with Daily Mail.
As you can see, drinking water can actually be instrumental when it comes to barring the condition. Always drink 8 glasses of water daily.
In other cases, you can use water to prepare a thyme cough syrup that will help you fend off the condition.
Firstly, you will be required to have one cup of water, one and two tablespoons of lemon juice and thyme respectively, 1/4 cup of honey.
In a cup containing thyme, pour boiling water and cover for 10 minutes. Afterwards, strain the infusion. Add honey and lemon juice to it. Then refrigerate it for at least one week.
Drink two to three tablespoon of the syrup.
