Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has said that it is only President Uhuru Kenyatta who has the moral authority to order for the eviction of squatters from the Mau region.

He noted that the Environment CS Keriako Tobiko has no mandate to order for the eviction of more than 6000 persons from the land to pave way for conversation.

He also said that the children of the squatters are just like other Kenyans and they deserve the best treatment at all times.

“There will be no eviction from Masai Mau Trust Land until President Uhuru Kenyatta speaks. CS Tobiko who is conflicted has no moral authority to evict people against the law.

We have asked Kenyans to stay put and our children to go to school like children of all other Kenyans!” he tweeted.

Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has backed the eviction of persons residing in the forest land.

He believes that it the only way to conserve the region. His stand has seen him face endless criticisms over the matter.

Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruyoit has differed with Ledama on several occasions over the eviction matters as the residents decry what awaits them after the eviction is unveiled officially.
