Winners of the inaugural Wanyama Royal Charity Cup are yet to receive their winning bonuses and are requesting organisers to fully settle their wins.
The tournament, which was hugely successful featured teams under the age of 16 and was graced by leaders including Deputy President Wiliam Ruto.
Dandora Youngsters were the winners of the tournament and were expected to pocket Sh500,000, with second runners-up, Green Santos winning Sh300,000.
Mainstream FC and Young Talent finished third and fourth and were expected to pocket Sh100,000 and Sh 50,000 respectively.
"We heard Wanyama say on TV he had released the money to pay us, it is now a month since we competed in this tournament, what's holding them?" a concerned coach said as quoted by Nairobi News.
The organisaers have conceded the delay in payments, saying the process had been held up by logistical issues."Kenyans don't have patience, they are used to people stealing their money.
I have even had to chase some of those people from our WhatsApp group," said Roya operations manager Abdul Hack who spoke to Nairobi News.
"We have an arrangement to pay out a percentage of the money to the teams, and the rest as school fees to some underprivileged players. The process is taking time but we hope to clear everything by the end of this month (July)," he added.
