Embakasi East Member of Parliament has embarked on a mission to establish a new school in his constituency to be named "Handshake Secondary School".
The school's name appears to be linked to the 2018 truce between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) boss Raila Odinga.
In a Facebook post, Owino says that construction plans for the school set to be established in Dolnholm in Upper Savana Ward are ready and the construction shall begin soon.
"Construction of a secondary school (Handshake Secondary School) at Donholm, Upper Savanna Ward in Embakasi East to start soon," he wrote on Thursday.
The planned construction has since received a nod from the Ministry of Education, in a letter to the lawmaker's office, dated October 29.
Since its convention, Owino has been among the leading supporters of the handshake and has mend fences with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Initially, the two did not see face to face, with the MP at some point landing in police custody for insulting the president, in the process of defending the former Prime Minister.
The same has been the case among the majority of his fellow ODM members, which appears to have killed opposition in Parliament.
