Mathare FC defeated Kisumu All Stars 2-1 during a Kenyan Premier League match that was played on Saturday at Moi Stadium, Kisumu.
Mathare United's goals were scored by Kevin Kimani and Clifford Alwanga in the 69th and 72nd minutes respectively.
Kisumu All Stars' single goal on the other hand was netted in by Gerishom Osumba.
Mathare FC's coach Salim Ali was pleased by his team's performance as it was their first victory in this season's Kenya Premier League.
“Winning an away match is not easy especially when you are playing against an unfamiliar opponent. They (All Stars) made it difficult for us but my players capitalised on their mistakes to beat them,” Ali said as quoted by Nation.
Kisumu All Stars' coach on the other hand was in a state of disbelief after his team's loss.
“I still can't believe we lost because we all anticipated a win against Mathare after taking the lead. However my defence let lose in the last minute and our opponents took advantage,” Omino noted.
There were no goals that were scored in the first half of the match, but in the second half, Gerishom Osumba was the first to score for Kisumu All stars before a quick turn of events which saw Kimani and Alwanga score the victorious goals.
