A middle-aged man was slashed to death by his brother on Wednesday in Nyaronge village, Nyantira sub-location, Kionduso in Kisii County.
Samuel Omosa was killed by his young brother Pius Omosa after a heated quarrel ensued between them over a mobile phone.
Kisii County Commander Martin Kibet said Pius was angered by Samuel's decision to confiscate his mobile phone leading to a heated quarrel.
"Pius was demanding a mobile phone Samuel confiscated from him in the morning but Samuel being the elder brother told him off on grounds that the mobile phone belonged to their mother and he was the one who should be using it," said Kibet as reported by Egesa FM.
The commander said Pius then picked a sharp panga which he used to attack his brother.
"The suspect cut Samuel on the head four times before he fled the home in fear for his life. The deceased died because he lost a lot of blood following the brutal attack," noted Kibet.
Kibet said the body of the deceased was moved to Nyamache Hospital Morgue, adding that police are pursuing the suspect who is on the run.
