The head of state was welcomed by Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga and Kieni MP Kanini Kega when he arrived at around 12.20 p.m.

Uhuru is expected to discuss a wide range of issues when he meets the leaders from his home turf.

The meeting comes three weeks after the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) team embarked on the compilation of the report ahead of its presentation.

Uhuru is anticipated to address the growing tension in the region over the contents of the report. The report has seen allies of Deputy President William Ruto raise concern over its contents.

The report comprises views collected from Kenyans across the nation.

DP Ruto allies have vowed to shoot down the report if it will create positions in the government for poll losers.

The calls for the referendum have further widened the rift between Ruto and Raila.
