Mandera County under the leadership of Governor Ali Ibrahim Roba has made great strides in bringing about development especially in the health sector, the Major Referral Hospital Mandera Town is being expanded to a new phase where it will hold as an emergency center, highly equipped theatres, a well-furnished intensive care unit (ICU), high dependency unit (HDU) and male and female medical wards.
The construction of the new phase of the hospital started a year ago by the county government and it is scheduled to be completed later this year.
The hospital's current management, directors and stakeholders are working on how to initiate and make use of the available resources with the help from county government in order to boost the facility's profile.
The county has put measures in place in order to improve the health sector with time and make use of available resources, employing many doctors and nurses and also giving scholarships to students to learn health and sciences courses.
