A number of people suffer this chronic stomach complication which is said to be caused by excessive production of acids by the body or a bacteria called Helicobacter pylori. It is not known as H.pylori.

Once it spreads in your stomach, it becomes difficult to control this condition.

Health experts, however, advise that these five things can help prevent and heal ulcers:

1. Avoid foods that irritate your stomach

You don't need somebody to let you know of some of the foods that cause irritation. If you experience stomach irritation anytime you eat certain food, it would be good if you avoid it next time. Common examples are spicy foods, citrus fruits and fatty foods.

2. Stop or limit smoking and alcohol intake.

I wouldn't advise you to limit these two activities but rather stop completely. Smoking and alcohol consumption have been linked to severe stomach ulcers. Alcohol has been found to erode stomach walls causing wounds (ulcers).

3. Use some probiotics

Probiotics are live organisms that help balance the bacterial population in the gut. Although they cannot kill H.pylori, they may reduce the number of bacteria in the gut thereby encouraging faster healing. Yoghurt is a perfect source of probiotics.

4. Honey

Honey is a natural sweetener used across the world. According to medicalnewstoday.com, honey has antibacterial effects against H.pylori. This means honey can be useful for treating stomach ulcers.

5. Incorporate fruits, vegetables and whole grains into your diet

A diet full of fruits, vegetables and whole grains is not only good for general health. Fruits and vegetables contain polyphenols which are antioxidants against ulcers.
