Chief Justice David Maraga has now asked the two conflicting sides to embrace dialogue in a bid to end the impasse to allow for the smooth running of the counties.

Governors have been faulting Members of Parliament for frustrating them when it comes to service delivery. They claim that they cannot even now pay their staff because of the MPs tough stand on the matter.

Maraga said that dialogue is one of the best ways to settle the matter, adding that unless the two bodies decide to sit down and talk, it will be impossible to reach consensus. The governors have insisted that they need the proposed Sh335 billion for the devolved units.

“I do not know whether you will consider my advice to try and reach consensus over imputed issues because it is the best way to resolve the matter,” said the CJ, as quoted by Capital FM.

National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has asked the Supreme Court to dismiss the petition presented by the county bosses seeking for the disbursement of the funds to allow smooth operations in the counties.
