Speaking in Migori during an event graced by Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i, the outspoken lawmaker said he had stopped attacks against the president because of the ongoing war on corruption.

He said the basis of his attacks in the past was corruption, and given that there was action being taken on corruption, there was no basis for continuing to attack the president.

"Why do I oppose him again and he is doing what we asked him to do. We are not mute, we are appreciating what is going on in this country at the moment," the legislator said

Mbadi hailed the replacement of former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich as evidence that the president was fighting corruption with the seriousness it deserves.

ODM legislators appear to have ceased their attacks on the Head of State since last year's handshake between their party leader Raila Odinga and President Kenyatta.

The scaling back of their criticism has prompted claims that the opposition is dead since the bulk of the opposition to the government's policies came from the ODM legislators.
