A senior police officer attached to Mbungoni Police Base in Bombolulu's Sports residential area in Kisauni Constituency has been found dead.
Chief Inspector William Chepkwony was found dead on a chair in a bar within the area on Tuesday morning.
The cause of his death is yet to be established, but it is reportedly said to have been on a drinking spree since Monday evening.
The crime scene has already been visited by detectives.
A postmortem examination is expected to be conduced to determine the cause of his death.
While it is still not clear over the police boss's death, Kisauni has emerged to be a haven for machete-wielding gangs terrorising residents.
The gangs have been targeting residents, brutally injuring some of them, with the recent attack coming on Sunday, where at least 10 people were seriously injured.
Police said the Sunday attack was perpetrated by 86 battalion gang. However, Nyali Deputy County Commissioner Silus Gatobu said they had located the gang's hideouts.
“We have established a new gang calling itself 86 battalion is the one attacking people here in Mwandoni and Bakarani area, we have seen their hideouts and we are soon going to arrest owners of the houses for interrogation,” said Gitobu.
