US Africa Command said the airstrike was retaliatory move following Saturday's deadly attack by Al-Shabaab militants in Somalia's capital Mogadishu that left more than 90 dead.

"These precision airstrikes targeted Al-Shabaab militants responsible for terrorist acts against innocent Somali citizens and coordinating with Al-Qaeda," AFRICOM said.

The US military team said it will continue to support Somalia and allied forces in the fight against Al-Shabaab militants.

"The US and the federal government of Somalia will continue to increase pressure on the terrorist organization in order to deny them the ability to plot terrorist attacks."

Sunday's strikes killed four militants and destroyed two vehicles in Qunyo Barrow while a separate strike killed another two in Caliyoow Barrow, according to AFRICOM, which regularly carries out airstrikes in Somalia.

The four are believed to be part of the deadly Amiyat members, a group of Al-Shabaab militants entrusted with carrying out assassinations.

Saturday's attack led to the death of over 90 people with scores others injured. Turkey airlifted 16 who were critically injured for further treatment.

Kenya is one of the countries that have deployed soldiers in Somalia for the peace keeping mission. Close to 2,500 soldiers are based in Jubaland.
