Former presidential candidate Dr Ekuru Aukot has described President Uhuru Kenyatta as a political genius.
This is after the Head of State managed to bring his fiercest political opponents in the 2017 general election; Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka, close to his administration.
The duo contested for the presidency under the National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition where Odinga was the flag bearer and Kalonzo his running mate.
Other principals in NASA included Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford-Kenya boss Moses Wetangula.
During the campaigns, the opposition alliance used the slogan nasa hao (trap them) to rally Kenyans to remove President Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto out of office.
However, the Jubilee administration was reelected in the October 26, 2017 repeat election that was boycotted by NASA.
Afterwards, Uhuru made peace with Raila through the March 9, 2018 handshake, and the latter was appointed as African Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa.
Raila's appointment as AU envoy was reportedly made following Uhuru's lobbying in the AU Commission.
And on Tuesday, the President appointed Kalonzo as his Special Envoy to monitor peace in the Republic of South Sudan.
The appointment came months after the Wiper party leader threw his weight behind Uhuru's government and declared he would be President's mtu wa mkono (errand boy).
Following the development, Aukot has hailed Uhuru for managing to 'trap' the duo, who in 2017 had vowed to dislodge him from the State House.
"With the appointment of Kalonzo Musyoka as Special envoy to South Sudan, Raila Odinga as AU representative, we can confirm the political genius of president Uhuru Kenyatta and Jubilee government. They have mastered the art of kunasa (trapping) #NASA. Kudos!" tweeted the Thirdway Alliance party leader on Thursday.
