Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi has confirmed that cattle rustlers will be dealt with without mercy due to a good number of police officers.
Speaking on Friday in Borabu, Matiang'i said police officers have been deployed to flush out cattle rustlers at the troubled Nyamira-Bomet border
"Cases of cattle theft in Borabu must come to an end because we have enough police officers to deal with the criminals stealing cattle. I want to assure residents of Borabu that cattle rustling will end," he stated.
Matiang'i urged residents not to keep when they notice a cattle rustler saying thieves should be sent to jail.
The Cabinet Secretary urged local youths in Nyamira and Bomet counties to venture into profitable activities to earn a living and stop engaging in crime.
"It has come to our attention that people who have been arrested several times and released are the same people stealing livestock. I want to confirm that there will be no mercy on cattle rustlers. Residents stealing livestock should stop or surrender before the law catches up with them," said Matiang'i.
He urged local leaders to empower youths to curb cases of livestock theft.
