President Uhuru Kenyatta's pointsman from Nyamira Walter Nyambati threatened to strip naked should Governor John Nyagarama sack ECDE teachers and irregularly employed people.
The county government suspended over 1,000 workers in April on claims that they were irregularly recruited and failed to renew contracts of over 500 ECDE workers.
But at Manga on Thursday, the former gubernatorial aspirant promised to support Governor Nyagarama with a condition that he does not sack the workers.
Mr Nyambati finished second in gubernatorial race and had his several petitions dismissed by courts. At Supreme Court, his petition was thrown out.
"I competed with the governor and I am ready to work with him. Let's support him so that he can deliver on his promises as we wait for 2022," said Nyambati.
He went on: "But if he sacks ECDE teachers and other alleged irregularly employed people, then we shall strip naked and oppose the move. Why did he employ them in the first place? We can't afford to lose teachers like that."
Last week, ECDE teachers were asked to pick letters of termination of contracts from various Sub County offices on grounds that they will renew them in a later date.
For the suspended workers, some were given a grace period to table their credentials. The county suspended them when it emerged that they were irregularly hired.
Governor Nyagarama recently said he is keen to have the payroll audited in a bid to curb ballooning wage bill which is currently at Sh5 billion.
