Investigations have unearthed what transpired a few hours before Catholic priest Michael Kyengo was murdered.
Kyengo reportedly spent his last six hours with a suspect in his murder case. Police reports reveal that on October 8, the victim was with 25-year-old Michael Mutunga, the main suspect in his demise.
Kyengo drove to Mbeere as opposed to earlier reports that he was kidnapped. After arriving at Mutunga's home, they had a happy conversation over tea in the evening.
However, details of the meeting between the 44-year-old priest and Mutunga are still a mystery as police continue to piece together the evidence.
“The priest’s body was loaded onto the boot of his vehicle and drove to a river bank where he was buried in a shallow grave,” an investigator disclosed to Standard.
DCI Special Crimes Prevention Unit officers are also trying to figure out if allegations of a sexual relationship between the two are true. This might need a second postmortem.
“Just like in cases where claims of sexual nature are made, we are considering a second round of examination on his body to establish if there was any intercourse,” a source familiar with the investigation revealed last week.
