Child trafficking is common in Kenya. Many criminals have been arrested in the recent past after kidnapping children from their parents.

Is there a story unfolding in your community? Let Hivisasa know

Most parents find themselves stranded whenever their children are kidnapped.

There is no need to panic if you realise your child has gone missing because there is a way you can rescue him or her.

Here are three things to do immediately your child goes missing:

1. Report the matter to the police

The first step you should take when your son or daughter goes missing is reporting the matter to the police.

Walk or drive to the nearest police station to inform them about it.

Do not take several days to notify the authorities because your child could be in danger.

If it is a case of kidnapping, do not hesitate to report as well. Never send money to anyone in the name of rescuing your child.

2. Be prepared to share your child’s information

The information about the child will enable you to rescue him or her.

Share information about the child’s age, size, skin colour and other important details with the investigation team.

3. Look within the neighbourhood

Your child could be somewhere in the neighbourhood. Look around the area.

Ask the friends of your child or schoolmates before reporting the issue.
